Hello Sweet Friends,
Today’s Reading … Genesis 27-37
As we continue through the book of Genesis, and the story of the beginning of the great Israelite nation, the theme of trust continues as well.
Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel, was far from a perfect man and yet God was faithful to the promises he made to Abraham and Isaac. Through Jacob, the 12 tribes of Israel will be established. And yet, he began his walk with the Lord in deception and manipulation. After stealing Essau’s birthright and blessing, Jacob is forced to leave his home and travel to a foreign land. These are the consequences of his sin. It is in this place of brokenness in Jacob’s life that we catch a glimpse of the graciousness of God. God makes this promise to Jacob: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised” (Genesis 28:15).
One of the benefits of reading the entire Bible in 90 days is that, not only do we read of God’s promise, we also read of His faithfulness to fulfill that promise to Jacob. In Genesis 33, Jacob returns home, just as God had promised.
God is faithful and He can be trusted.
Love to you all,
Kinsee
