90 Day Read Through the Bible – Day 54

June 25, 2018

Hello Sweet friends,
Today’s Reading … 2 Chronicles 32-35, Nahum 1-3, 2 Kings 22-23 and Zephaniah 1-3

The book of Nahum provides a vivid contrast of God as judge and God as Father.

God as Judge exhibits the following attributes:

He is jealous (1:2).
He is avenging (1:2).
He is filled with wrath at evil doers (1:2).
He maintains wrath against His enemies (1:2).
He is great in power (1:3).
He will not leave the guilty unpunished (1:3).
He is indignant (1:6).

The following attributes are exhibited by God as Father:

He is slow to anger (1:3).
He is good (1:7).
He is a refuge in times of trouble (1:7).
He cares for those who trust Him (1:7).
(“What the Bible is All About”)

What a powerful reminder to Keep God First! His absolute power is used in wrath against his enemies and in protection of His children. This is a call to thank Jesus for His sacrifice which brought about our adoption into the family of God!

In Zephaniah, we experience the religious revival led by King Josiah. Josiah was only 16 and became one of the most beloved kings of Judah. The revival that he lead was a foreshadowing of the revival that would occur when the remnant returned to the Promised Land after exile to Babylon. When the Israelites repent, when we repent, there is a cleansing and humbling that leads to a new depth of trusting and rejoicing in the Lord. This will ultimately be experienced when the Lord Himself will sit on the throne of David, when Christ comes to earth to rule in power and glory. While we wait for this glorious victory, we will remember the call to Keep God First because, “The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy” (Zephaniah 3:17).

Rest in that image today, All mighty God is rejoicing over you, just as you are, with shouts of joy! You are loved my beautiful sisters in Christ!

Love you all,
Kinsee

“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return empty, but accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it”(Isaiah 55:11).
