90 Day Read Through the Bible – Day 20

May 22, 2018

Hello sweet friends,
Today’s Reading … Deuteronomy 21-34 and Psalm 91

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

This beautiful psalm is both a battle cry and a call to childlike faith.

Throughout our lives we are confronted with attacks from “the fowler’s snare,” “deadly pestilence,” and “arrows that fly by day” (Psalm 91:3,6).  In my life, I might call those “anxiety,” “perfectionism” and “idolatry.”  However we are promised, “If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no harm will come to your tent” (Psalm 91:9).

So, what does it mean to make the Most High our dwelling? I believe it is just what we are spending these 90 days doing. We are filling our days, our lives and our hearts with the promises of a faithful God. We are meditating on His Word.  We are claiming that while His ways are not our ways, they are the best ways.  The “harm” that we identify coming to our “tent” (heart), cannot destroy us in His eternal perspective.  We can declare war on the sins and brokenness in our lives because “He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11-12). What power!! Heavenly power in the spiritual warfare of this life. The same God who led the Israelites out of Egypt and provided for them in their wilderness wanderings is with us and for us. He will lead us out of bondage, stay patient as we wander and destroy our enemies before us.

We are not alone in the battle. “He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver and honor him.” (Psalm 91:15) Did you see that? There is no question, you will be in trouble. We are human and therefore we sin and hurt and need a deliverer. Please remember, in that moment, cry out to Him. He will deliver and restore you. Every time. Forever. He promises to be faithful and all out, “Trust Me.”

Love you all,

Kinsee
