Hello Sweet Friends,
Today’s Reading … Romans 4-16
Paul’s letter to the Romans presents his core teachings of faith in Christ: the universality of sin; the powerlessness of the law to make us right before God; the power of God’s saving act in Christ’s death and resurrection; and believers receiving that power and forgiveness of sins by faith in Christ. The first 3 chapters describe the hell of sin. The last 5 chapters describe the heaven of holiness. The intervening chapters describe Christ, the Way to relationship with God.
The message of Romans is found in chapter 1, verses 16-17.
-The person of the Gospel – Christ
-The power of the Gospel – God
-The purpose of the Gospel – salvation
-The people to whom the Gospel is sent – everyone
-The plan of acceptance- believe
-The particular result – the righteous will live by faith
-Through Christ, by the power of God, everyone who believes receives salvation and will be made righteous in order to live a life of faith.
What does it mean to live a life of faith? We find the answer in Chapters 6 – Know, Count, Offer:
1. “Know” that Christ died for you (Romans 6:3,5,10).
“Know” that you died with Christ (Romans 6:8).
2. “Count” on this: “You are dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11).
3. “Offer” yourself(Romans 6:13): “Offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life…”
(What the Bible is All About).
That is our mission: Know, Count, Offer.
We have been redeemed for a purpose. We have a calling. We tend to over complicate things but there is no guesswork here. We know that our salvation is secure, we count on our future being secure and we offer ourselves to a purpose that is secure. We can move forward confidently today in clarity, security and the power of God.
Love you all,
Kinsee
