90 Day Read Through the Bible – Day 49

June 20, 2018

Hello Sweet friends,
Today’s Reading … Micah 1-7, 2 Chronicles 28, 2 Kings 16-17 and Isaiah 13-22

The prophet, Micah, worked to help the Israelites understand that the weight of their sins is not hidden from God and that any sin is an insult to God.

“Hear you peoples, all of you listen, earth and all who live in it, that the Sovereign Lord may bear witness against you”
(Micah 1:2).

This is a profound truth to hold in our hearts as well. It is an easy trap to walk through life oblivious to the many sins we commit each day in our actions as well as in our hearts and minds. None of us like to focus on our sin. We like to talk about all the positive things that God is doing in our lives. We like to celebrate His goodness. And we should. However, let us not forget that He is holy and that sin is offensive to Him. In Christ, we are forgiven.  That is not an excuse for laziness or apathy. Instead, out of our gratitude we seek to please the heart of God in our thoughts and actions. In the power of the Holy Spirit, we become more transformed to the image of Christ. This is the opposite of falling into mindless sinful patterns.

Micah 6:8 provides a beautiful template to hold up to our life each day:

“He has told you , O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness
And to walk humbly with your God.”

Clearly, we cannot do this in our own strength, but only through the power of God. It all starts with a personal relationship with God, keeping Him first in all we do. As such, before we act, we can stop and pray for wisdom asking the Lord if our actions are pleasing to Him. He will be faithful to answer and to empower us to bless His heart, as that is our ultimate goal each and everyday.

Love you all,
Kinsee
