Hello Sweet friends,
Today’s Reading … Proverbs 1-15
Yesterday we read Song of Solomon, a book about love and feelings. Today and tomorrow we move to Proverbs, an intensely practical book which exposes a series of traps that would ensnare us. In the book of Proverbs, the existence of God is assumed. This book is to provide rules for living the righteous life.
There is a contrast and partnership between the books of Psalms and Proverbs:
In Psalms we find Christians on their knees/In Proverbs we find Christians on their feet.
The Psalms are for the Christians devotions/The Proverbs are for the Christians walk.
The Psalms are for the closet prayer/The Proverbs are for the business place, the home and the community.
In the book of Proverbs we find that godliness is practical. This is a book of everyday instructions. This book divides people into two classes-wise and unwise. Proverbs is divided into three sections:
1. Advice for young people
2. Advice for all people
3. Advice for all rulers
As you read the book of Proverbs, put the word “Christ” in place of the word “wisdom.” You will then begin to understand the wonderful power that is in this book.
