Hello Sweet Friends,
Today’s Reading … Joshua 16-24 and Judges 1-2
The book of Joshua serves as a link between the Pentateuch and the later historical books. Chapters 1-22 describe the conquest of land and the division of land between the tribes of Israel. In the final chapters Joshua exhorts the people to be careful and obey all that is written in the Law of Moses. A few key facts:
Joshua 1-2 – Joshua sends spies into Canaan and they encounter Rahab, who is in the genealogy of Jesus. Joshua and the Israelites are ready to serve and move.
Joshua 3-5 – In Exodus, at the beginning of the journey, they crossed the Red Sea. Now, in Joshua, as they reach the Promised Land, they cross the Jordan River.
Joshua 6 – The people obeyed the command of God and marched around the wall of Jericho. The walls fell and God received the glory.
Joshua 7-8 – The Israelites leaned on their own strength and failed. Achan’s sin infected all of Israel.
Joshua 10 -The Israelites went a second tome to Ai, this time they were victors.
Joshua 11 – All of Southern and Central Canaan had been captured and Joshua turns his attention to the North. Again, he is victorious. This is the first time Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible.
Joshua – 13-23 – Land Division among the tribes.
Joshua 24 – Joshua issues his farewell address. He urges the people and leaders to remember the power and faithfulness of God. He gives them the charge, “Don’t Give Up!”
As a sweet reminder of our theme of “Trust Me” from Genesis to Deuteronomy, I wanted to share a printable with you. Keep looking for more as we continue our 90 day read this summer!
Love you all,
