Hello Sweet friends,
Today’s Reading … Numbers 16-25
How are you faring as we wander in the wilderness? Do you get frustrated with the Israelites frequent amnesia concerning God’s faithfulness to them? I mean, it want’t that long ago that they crossed the Red Sea!!
If you are honest, can you relate to the wilderness blues that seem to keep the Israelites doubting and discouraged? In, “What the Bible is All About,” Dr. Mears draws some powerful parallels:
“The sin of unbelief kept the people of Israel from entering the Promised Land for 40 years. The appearance of giants in the Promised Land frightened 10 of the spies and the people refused to listen to Joshua and Caleb. We all face giants as well…will we be pessimists like the 10 or optimists who trust God like the faithful 2? The Israelites compared their challenges to their own strength instead of the strength of God to be victorious, we must guard about doing the same. The Israelites ended up in endless wanderings, ending nowhere. When we fail to trust God, we find this to be our experience too. We wander around but never accomplish anything and miss out on God’s best for us. We also see Moses fail to honor God as he strikes the rock to get water. Even the most faithful children of God fall into sin in the exhaustion and frustration”(paraphrased).
Let’s take a minute to evaluate where we are focusing our eyes, our hearts and our minds. Are we focused on the giants or the One who parts the Red Sea? He is faithful! He calls to us, “Trust Me.”
Love you all,
Kinsee
“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return empty, but accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it”(Isaiah 55:11).
